SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The first FAME scholars 2006: (left to right) Khadine Adams, Mandy Holden, Greg Cohen and Jessica Hussong are recipients of FAME's first college scholarships in 2006.

To realize its long-term goal of developing future industry leaders, FAME launched a scholarship program for the 2006-2007 academic year by selecting the first four college students to receive $5,000 scholarships to pursue careers in risk management and insurance. The new initiative by FAME is aimed at encouraging more young people to consider the field of risk management and insurance as a profession. Click here for the news release with full information on our first scholarship recipients.

For the 2007-2008 academic year two scholars at each of four universities were awarded FAME scholarships-Khadine Adams and Derek Butts; Howard University, Jessica Hussong and Anthony Giombi; University of Wisconsin Madison , Daria Surducan and Allison Kotchevar; California State Sacramento, Erin Stuchel and Samuel Sports; University of Georgia.

For the 2008-2009 academic year two scholarships at each of five universities were awarded FAME scholarships- Taisha Ferguson and Da'Monique Sonnier; Howard University, Ari Rokni and Garret Larson; University of Wisconsin Madison, Allison Kotchevar and Jasmine Cox; California State Sacramento, Grant Everett and Dara Vaughan; University of Georgia, , Vanessa Contreras and Jon Perry; Illinois State University.

For the coming 2009-2010 academic year, FAME is sponsoring 14 scholarships of $5,000 each at nine state universities for students majoring in risk management and insurance. There are now two scholarships at each of five universities – Howard University, University of Wisconsin Madison, University of Georgia, California State University at Sacramento, and the Katie School at Illinois State University.

At its October 2008 Board meeting, FAME approved four additional scholarships for the 2009-2010 academic year – one $5,000 scholarship at each of the following schools:  the University of Mississippi; Appalachian State University, Boone, NC; Temple University, Philadelphia; and California State University, Fullerton.

Looking ahead, FAME's goal is build a true industry-wide scholarship program. We would like to expand to other universities with strong insurance programs all around the country one day and increase the size of each scholarship. To do this, we must build the FAME endowment. We are asking all p/c and benefits underwriters to join us in this effort. Click here to read more about how you can contribute to growing the FAME Scholarship Program.
