As the primary regulators of insurance, the states have a significant impact on the activities of Council member firms.  State laws and regulations change frequently.  The activities of state legislators, insurance regulators and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners demand constant oversight to ensure that brokers’ concerns and interests are addressed as policies are proposed, legislation enacted and rules promulgated.  Scott Sinder and his colleagues at Steptoe & Johnson, in coordination with the government affairs staff, handle state government affairs issues for The Council.
