In surveys of member firms by The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers, staffing and human capital issues are consistently identified as primary concerns now and for the foreseeable future. Specifically, members are interested in developing new staffing resources and expanding the labor pool that they can draw on for potential new talent. To address those needs, The Foundation for Agency Management Excellence (FAME), a 501(c)3 charitable and educational organization administered by The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers, commissioned the development of this industry-specific manual to offer guidance to member firms that are interested in establishing internship programs as a means of tapping into the large number of emerging pre-professionals at the nation’s colleges and universities.
