3  Deductible Limit for Small Group Plans Repealed
Last week, the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 was signed into law. The bill’s main provisions, known as the “Doc Fix,” preserve the pay rate for physicians who treat Medicare patients. The legislation included a provision, however, that eliminates the ACA’s annual deductible limit for fully insured health plans in the small group market. Importantly, the legislation did not repeal the ACA’s annual cost-sharing limits for essential health benefits. More.
 
 
2  Bill Would Change Definition of FTE 
A House bill that would change the definition of “full-time employee” under the ACA was passed last week. The new definition is important both for purposes of determining which employers are “large” (and thus subject to the employer mandate), as well as which employees who work for large employers must be offered coverage.
