Our Issues

The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) currently applies to non-cash value property/casualty insurance premiums sent overseas, creating a massive compliance burden for brokers.

1  Cyber
The cyber insurance market must be allowed to grow and develop without undue government intervention, but The Council believes there are certain measures that can be taken by the federal government to be helpful and encourage better cybersecurity.

3  Flood
The National Flood Insurance Program is up for reauthorization in September 2017. The Council is advocating for a long-term extension of the NFIP and measures to increase private market participation.

4  ACA Reporting
The Affordable Care Act created two new burdensome requirements for employers who provide health benefits to their employees.

5  Cadillac Tax
The Affordable Care Act’s 40 percent excise tax on “high-value” employer-sponsored health plans will be detrimental to working families and employers and must be repealed.

5  Taxation of Employer-Sponsored Insurance
The tax treatment of employer-sponsored health plans is under attack from all sides in Washington. Preservation of this tax exclusion is critical to maintaining our employer-sponsored system of benefits in the U.S.
