California Broker Compensation Bill Passes Legislature

SB 1244 passed the California legislature in late August. If enacted, it will go into effect for contracts entered into, extended, or renewed on or after January 1, 2028. Governor Newsom has until September 30, 2026 to sign or veto the bill. The legislation requires certain compensation disclosures by covered service providers – including brokers – to public agency benefits plans for local governmental entities.
