Tort Reform & Legal System Abuse

Communications Toolkit

Ensure your Voice is Heard on Legal System Abuse

Working closely with other leading industry associations and coalitions, The Council is advocating for both federal and state-level reforms to address one of the most significant drivers of rising insurance costs in the U.S. – legal system abuse.

We know that state-level legal system abuse is significantly impacting your ability to secure affordable, quality coverage for your clients. We created the toolkit below to empower Council members to engage in our advocacy efforts through grassroots communications to key audiences.

What’s Inside?

Customizable Letters with State-specific Messaging

  • Your Peers in the Business Community – Rally fellow business leaders in the push for legal system abuse reforms in your state.
  • Your Local Legislators – Emphasize the importance of proposed or existing reforms with lawmakers. We’ve done the legwork to identify the legislators who have the ability to impact reforms in your state.
  • Your Clients – Help educate the large employers you serve about legal system abuse, when/where it occurs, and how the associated costs are causing their insurance premiums to rise.

How to Use the Toolkit

  • Select your State from the tabs below. We’ve identified priority states based on proposed/existing reforms.
  • Select your Audience. You may opt to email/contact one or several stakeholders.
  • Customize your Communication with your name, addressee, etc.
  • Send to your key audiences. Note that contact information for legislators is included in template letters for each state.
