Benchmarking performance indicators are an essential element of continuous improvement, allowing firms to track their own performance, compare their results to peers, and identify areas that could be strengthened or improved.

The Council is introducing a new benchmarking survey aimed at providing its member firms with objective performance measures with which to compare their own growth trajectories, organizational structures, and operational challenges. This report addresses operational areas such as organic growth, structure, staffing, and budget allocations. A total of 135 professionals from various roles within The Council’s membership—CEO, CFO, COO, CIO, claims and risk, HR, legal, and marketing and communications—participated in the survey. This report presents a subset of the data from about 55 firms and agencies with the majority of firms reporting annual revenues under $500 million. As this is the first year of data collection, the findings should be viewed as a directional baseline, laying the groundwork for more comprehensive year-over-year data to include analysis of trends and refection of the multi-faceted brokerage community.
