Education Needs to Study up on Fighting Ransomware

When it comes to ransomware, we’ve been hearing a lot about the healthcare industry and its vulnerability to the crime. However, a recent article by cybersecurity website, NetworkWorld, suggests the education system is in fact leading other industries for rate of infection, according to a study conducted by BitSight. The study found that organizations in education are the highest hit with ransomware attacks, with one in 10 finding ransomware in their systems. The study focused on the following industries: finance, retail, healthcare, energy/utilities, government and education, which are listed from best to worst in terms of infection rate.
