IMA Financial Group’s Robert Cohen Elected Chairman
of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers
WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 13, 2016 – Robert L. Cohen, chairman and chief executive officer of The IMA Financial Group Inc., in Denver, Colo., was elected as 2017 Chairman of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers, as announced this week by The Council. He succeeds Bill D. Henry, chief executive officer of MHBT/MMA Southwest Region in Dallas, Texas.
Cohen was elected during The Council’s 103rd annual Insurance Leadership Forum (ILF) in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Insurance Leadership Forum has been instrumental to the commercial property/casualty insurance industry since its beginnings in 1913, and continues to be the premier industry meeting for market leaders worldwide.
Since becoming CEO, Cohen has guided IMA to incredible growth. Under his leadership, the company has grown by more than $100 million in revenue, increased its footprint nationally and established an award-winning culture for IMA’s employee owners.
Cohen serves on several boards of for-profit and non-profit organizations, including Atlas Advertising, Colorado I Have A Dream Foundation, Colorado Succeeds, Commerce Bank, Denver Sports Commission, Denver Zoo, Dovetail Solutions, Downtown Denver Partnership, MSU Denver, Southern Hospitality, United States Olympic and Paralympic Foundation, and Visit Denver.
His many recognitions include the National Philanthropy Day in Colorado “Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser” award (2002), and The Denver Business Journal’s Partners in Philanthropy “Corporate Citizen of the Year” award (2011).
Cohen received his bachelor’s degree in Risk Management and Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Charter Property Casualty Underwriters designation (CPCU) and is a graduate of Leadership Denver and 50 For Colorado. He is a 21-time participant in the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation’s City-to-City Leadership Exchange.
As Chairman of The Council, Cohen leads a team of officers including Vice Chairman David L. Eslick, chairman and chief executive officer, Marsh & McLennan Agency, New York; Treasurer Martin P.
