Laycox Named Leader’s Edge Magazine Editor-In-Chief

Washington, D.C. – April 9, 2018 – Sandy Laycox will assume the role of editor-in-chief of Leader’s Edge magazine, as announced today by The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers. Laycox will take over with the July/August issue. She has spent the past three years as the magazine’s associate managing editor under Rick Pullen, who is retiring this year after launching the magazine in 2004.

“Sandy is a talented and seasoned editor and we are excited to have her ascend to this position,” said Ken A. Crerar, president/CEO of The Council. “We conducted an extensive national search and realized the best successor was in our own backyard. In her short time with us, Sandy has propelled the magazine’s benefits content, launched the online ‘Digital After Deadline’ section and has been a catalyst in increasing our digital presence. I have no doubt that Sandy will bring her own style and brilliance to Leader’s Edge while maintaining its well-established and respected brand that Rick helped to create,” said Crerar.

Laycox will be responsible for all areas of the magazine’s editorial, design and production process. Pullen will stay on as Editor Emeritus and continue to write and act as an adviser in several capacities ensuring a seamless transition.

Before joining The Council, Laycox served as senior writer/editor for America’s Essential Hospitals, where she co-launched an award-winning digital magazine and wrote a history of the association. She also worked at The History Factory, producing corporate histories and editing best practice case studies in corporate performance. Laycox is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has a master’s degree in creative nonfiction writing from the University of New Orleans.

An award-winning magazine, Leader’s Edge is published by The Council 10 times per year. The magazine is a convergence of industry intelligence, thought leadership, lifestyle and entertainment written exclusively for commercial insurance brokerage leaders.
