Minneapolis Bar Adds 3% Service Charge to Cover Health Insurance Costs

A Minneapolis bar owner is reportedly adding a 3 percent service charge to all customer bills to cover the rising costs of health insurance for her staff. The local NBC affiliate, KARE11, reports that Kim Bartmann’s employee costs rose between 20-30 percent in recent years “Rather than raising prices, we want to be transparent about our costs,” said Bartmann. “We think our customers will appreciate knowing that our workers have good quality, affordable health insurance.”
