Hackers have now discovered how to control a moving vehicle at very high speeds. Two security researchers gained access to two Jeep Cherokees on the freeway, raising alarm that the insurance industry would once again have to adjust for yet another form of cyberattack.
However, Michael Gonos, company director of IT Infrastructure Services at Gratex International, has stated that such an attack is not any different from any other organized hacking attempt. He does acknowledge, however, that this incident illustrates the need for greater education in general when it comes to cybersecurity.
“Previously, in our minds, cyber risks were mainly connected to corporate networks or computers,” stated Gonos. “However…cyber risks are reaching individuals as well. With this in mind, education and knowledge with regard to cyber risk is more important than before.”
