A senior Alphabet executive stated that there are state sponsored cyber-attacks at a rate of 4,000 attacks a month. While speaking at a Fortune magazine tech conference in Aspen, the executive emphasized the fact that Google notifies customers about these attacks and prompts them to change their credentials and be active in the securing of their accounts. Because of Google’s initiative in notifying customers, other companies such as Microsoft have stepped up to provide similar services.
