According to a recent survey, IT and security professionals are not able to keep pace with quickly expanding internal and external cybersecurity threats.

According to BI, the survey of over 1,000 security professionals in the United States, Britain and Canada shows that there are “mounting pressures on organizations due to a shortage of necessary specialist skills, tight budgets and poor employee education.” The study found that 54 percent of respondents believed that their firm’s security staffing levels needed to double in size, while another 24 percent said that it needed to quadruple, to be able to handle the wide range of cyber threats they face.

Security teams are stretched thin fending off well-funded attackers trying to externally access their growing mountains of data while also trying to defend against internal threats smuggled in by unaware employees using personal devices.
