In the wake of the San Bernardino shootings, President Obama has announced a new phase that involves working with tech companies to access encrypted communications.

While the President has not provided specific details on how the government plans to work with the tech industry in fighting terrorism, it is believed that terrorists often communicate through encrypted messages through many technology services and product vendors. The U.S. House of Representatives has also taken the initiative to “combat terrorists’ use of social media” as these terrorists are believed to “communicate, coordinate attacks and recruit followers through social networks and other Internet services.”
