Tim Pawlenty (R), former Minnesota Governor and current chief executive of the Financial Services Roundtable, has long been a proponent of adopting “EMV,” or chip-enabled cards, in an attempt to stem cyber criminals’ ability to commit counterfeit card fraud.
In a recent op-ed in The Hill, Pawlenty outlines the need for retail groups to embrace this new technology as banks and card companies have. Otherwise, he states that they will have “left the door open and knowingly increased the chances of their customers being fraud victims.”
