The House Financial Services Committee released last week its long-awaited legislative draft to reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program. The program is currently scheduled to expire on September 30.
Reauthorization of the program is a top priority for The Council and we’re pleased to see progress towards reauthorization with this legislation. The Council is particularly pleased to see the inclusion of provisions intended to bolster the private market for flood policies and to allow access to NFIP data. We’re working with Members of Congress on the legislation as it sees its way through Committee and remain optimistic that the program will be reauthorized prior to its scheduled September 30 expiration.
