lloyds-of-londonAccording to a recent Lloyd’s report, Drones Take Flight, the quickly expanding drone industry is facing the threat of cyberattack and other cybersecurity issues.

In the report, Lloyd’s identified five risks that could stunt the industry’s growth including, “privacy infringement, fragmented global regulations, airspace control & collision avoidance and cybersecurity issues – especially pertinent given the security risk posed by a hijacked drone or unmanned aerial system (UAS) infected with malware.”

Vulnerability to cyberattack is a major worry for insurers, but Kent Chaplin of Lloyd’s said, “Lloyd’s syndicates can offer cover for physical loss and damage and liability risks and the Lloyd’s market continues to develop new solutions to support this emerging sector.”
