According to a recent NAIC announcement, seven members from California, Indiana, Maine, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Dakota and South Carolina “will lead the multi-state examination of Anthem Insurance Companies, Inc. and its affiliates.”
NAIC President and Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Monica Lindeen stated, “while the criminal investigation runs its course, we will act now to assist and protect consumers. We’ll work to identify those affected, assure that they receive appropriate protections, and continue our efforts to improve the industry’s cybersecurity.”
The seven regulators have the right to expand the examination, expecting that the majority of other states and territories affected will also be interested in joining in the future.
