In what seems to have become a staple of the Cyber Roundup, credit unions and retailers are once again exchanging angry memos about how the other is failing to properly secure customer data.

The Retail Industry Leaders Association, National Retail Federation and other groups recently penned a memo about how the Credit Union National Association’s economic forecast fails to mention the connection between data breaches and financial loss, even though CUNA regularly blames weak retail payment standards as a source of financial loss for their members.

CUNA quickly responded by arguing that the retailers memo was a “perverse and misguided interpretation” of their economic report.
