As the story goes, once you’re a victim of a cyberheist and your money makes it to China, all is more or less lost. But not for this American firm, which according to Brian Krebs, lost $197,000 in 2013, “only to later recover most of the money after allegedly plying Chinese authorities with a carton of cigarettes and a hefty bounty for their trouble.” Krebs has the heartwarming tale (as far as cybersecurity stories goes) of how this company was able to recover the majority of their money.
