DLA Piper, one of the largest law firms in the world, is moving into the cybersecurity industry. The law firm has created a new subsidiary, Blue Edge Lab, to lead its first expedition into non-legal work.
DLA Piper’s Blue Edge Lab consists “consists mainly of a subscription software service called CyberTrak, which will be sold to companies for $25,000 a year.” CyberTrak is a guidebook to cybersecurity laws and regulations in 23 countries. Domestically it aims to support government contracting, energy, financial services and health care. There are now enough laws and regulations across the country including in 47 states and DC that vary in content and complexity making it difficult for companies to comply. The Washington Post has more on the announcement.
