Anthem Inc., the second largest health insurer in the United States was hacked last week and the personal information of about 80 million customers and employees may have been compromised, which may be the largest known data breach of a healthcare company.
Anthem executives were quick to announce the breach, which occurred last week. This is unique compared to other high profile attacks were executives usually wait weeks to make an announcement and could signal a change in how executives approach massive data breaches. The Wall Street Journal has more on the Anthem breach including what was taken, who was affected and what the insurer will do in the coming days.
