The chief executive of the HITRUST Alliance recently told lawmakers that they should provide safe harbors to healthcare organizations that are putting forth effort to protect patient information but still fall victim to a cyberattack.
Daniel Nutkis said that, “right now, organizations look at Anthem and others that did extremely well … then they go ‘well, if Anthem can’t protect themselves, we don’t have a chance.’ We’re trying to let them know that’s not the case. There’s a lot that you can do.”
