Enter your username and “say cheese!” MasterCard is looking at replacing passwords with facial recognition technology.
The company currently provides services intended to make the customers experience faster and easier such as “SecureCode” but, like many other similar services, it is password protected. By using fingerprints or facial recognition, the customer experience will be simplified by eliminating the need to remember pesky passwords. The hope is that the technology would use an app that customers would simply open, look at the camera, and blink -the blink ensuring that a picture would not be used by a hacker. According to one report, MasterCard is launching a small, preliminary research group first using fingerprints, though they are investigating facial recognition and voice recognition as well.
