People, companies, states, schools. They’re all dropping like flies!

Recent cyber attacks have brought down statewide science exams in Minnesota and Virginia. Meanwhile, Penn State announced that they have been the victims of two separate, and very serious, APTs.

The Minnesota and Virginia tests were interrupted when cyber attacks targeted Pearson, the vendor for the science exams in Minnesota and Standards of Learning exams in Virginia.

Last week, Penn State announced they discovered a cyber attack, which dates back to at least 2012. The school became aware of the breach following a FBI notice last November and were forced to completely disconnect its College of Engineering systems from the internet. Mandiant experts were brought in to help remedy the issue and the school does not believe that student, staff or faculty personal information were compromised.
