Following the two massive data breaches at OPM and continued network penetrations at the White House, State Department and Pentagon, the federal government is coming to terms with the fact that data breaches are bound to happen. That is why the government has begun searching for contractors to perform post-breach cleanup.
According to National Journal, the federal government is prepared to spend $500 million over the next five years to keep such contractors on call to offer, “government-wide identity monitoring data breach response and protection services,” which will cover, “basic credit reporting to in-depth identity monitoring.”
