Wyndham, the hotel chain that was hacked in 2008 and 2009, is still fighting the FTC’s charges regarding lax data security protocols, “even though a federal appeals court Monday affirmed that the agency has the authority to take action against companies for failing to prevent cybersecurity breaches,” reports PoliticoPro.
In a statement Wyndham argued, “we continue to contend the FTC lacks the authority to pursue this type of case against American businesses, and has failed to publish any regulations that would give such businesses fair notice of any proposed standards for data security.”
