The Ponemon Institute has released the results from its 10th annual, independently-conducted Cost of Data Breach Study, which polled experts from 350 organizations in 11 countries.
According to the study, the average total cost of a breach is $3.8 million, a 23% increase since 2013. Furthermore, the study discovered that the average cost incurred for a stolen record containing sensitive and confidential information increased from $145 to $154, a 6% change.
