It appears the Russian hacking group ‘Fancy Bear’ has struck again,  posting the medical and drug testing records of several top U.S. Olympians online. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced this week that the Russian-linked hackers breached their systems and published medical records of the country’s top athletes including Simone Biles, Serena and Venus Williams and Elena Delle Donne. While Fancy Bear claimed the records prove U.S. athletes “regularly used illicit strong drugs justified by certificates of approval for therapeutic use,” the records actually prove the athletes did “everything right in adhering to the global rules for obtaining permission to use a needed medication.” Fancy Bear has been linked to previous hacks on the Democratic National Committee, military officials in the U.S., as well as countries in Western Europe, Brazil, China, Iran and several others.
