TD Bank will pay out $625,000 following a 2012 data breach, which affected 260,000 people, 90,000 of whom lived in Massachusetts, after “two unencrypted backup tapes went missing during a courier run between two offices.”

In addition to losing names, addresses, Social Security numbers, account numbers and other personal data of customers, the bank failed to notify those affected and the state for seven months. Read the full story.
