THE COUNCIL OF INSURANCE AGENTS & BROKERS
WELCOMES BETH MCMAHON AS
VICE PRESIDENT OF PEOPLE & CULTURE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 13, 2022 – The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers is pleased to welcome Beth McMahon – a talent development executive with global experience in the hospitality industry – as the organization’s new Vice President of People & Culture. In this newly created role, McMahon will facilitate and manage employee relations, drive initiatives to optimize organizational and employee success, and develop creative strategies to maintain a thriving workplace culture consistent with The Council’s core values.

“Talent is top of mind for all businesses, but not every organization is willing to put in the work that is needed to hire and keep the best people in their industry,” said McMahon. “The Council has built a strong foundation and culture over its many years, and I’m excited to help them expand on the diversity equity and inclusion, talent development, strategic planning and innovation programs they’ve created to support their staff and help them better serve Council member firms.”

McMahon joins The Council from Choice Hotels where she served as Director of Human Resources since 2019. She previously served in human resources leadership positions at Interstate Hotels & Resorts, the real estate group B.F. Saul Company, Au Bon Pain and Crestline Hotels & Resorts. She is skilled in aligning talent management initiatives with business needs including performance management, succession planning, leadership development, workforce planning, talent assessments and training programs.

“Very few industries have faced more adversity over the past several years – specifically from a talent standpoint – than the hospitality industry,” said Ken A. Crerar, President/CEO of The Council. “Beth’s ability to harness the strengths of an organization to develop creative talent development solutions makes her a perfect fit for The Council. We’re excited to see how her expertise will help us grow and evolve in the future.”

While The Council sharpens its focus on talent development, its team is also expanding, most recently with the addition of a newly created Marketing & Communications role.

Shatyka Brittany Walker (Brittany) joined The Council in February as Digital Marketing Specialist. In this role, Walker supports the Marketing & Communications team by providing expertise in social media planning, website development, and overall digital marketing strategy. Walker graduated from the Historically Black College and University (HBCU), Morgan State University, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Communications and a concentration in Public Relations.
