According to Gov. Terry McAuliffe, Virginia plans on launching an Information Sharing and Analysis Organization for state agencies and companies to exchange cyber threat data.
Karen Jackson, Virginia secretary of technology, said that Virginia was in the early stages of developing the ISAO when President Obama issued his executive order promoting the creation of ISAOs to help facilitate information sharing throughout the U.S. economy. However, Jackson said that much of how the ISAO will operate is still being decided. “We want to be a model. We want to be a leader. We want to be on the forefront of doing this right. It also puts us in a position of having a deeper conversation with DHS as those standards and governance models,” said Jackson.
