This Zurich report examines how increased cyber attacks coupled with stricter privacy and notification laws are pushing companies across the globe to turn to cyber insurance to cover their risk.
The report finds that more and more countries are enacting laws that will require companies to “notify every customer and client whose data was stolen,” following a data breach. These additional costs will be in addition to “the already steep cost of investigating a breach, updating system security, restoring data, potentially severe regulatory fines, business interruption and, in many cases, remedying the damage the stolen personal information has caused individuals.”
